Manaslu Region

The Manaslu Region is a remote and less-traveled trekking destination located in the western part of Nepal. It is centered around Mount Manaslu (8,163 meters), the eighth-highest peak in the world. The region offers an untouched trekking experience, featuring diverse landscapes ranging from subtropical jungles to alpine forests and glacial valleys. The trek around Manaslu, known as the Manaslu Circuit Trek, provides a rich cultural experience as trekkers pass through traditional villages inhabited by Tibetan-influenced communities.

Permits / Visa	Trekkers require the Manaslu Restricted Area Permit, Manaslu Conservation Area Permit (MCAP), and the Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP). Additionally, a registered guide is mandatory due to its restricted status.

There is virtually no nightlife in the Manaslu Region. Most evenings are spent in local teahouses, where trekkers can relax, share stories, and enjoy simple meals by the fireplace.

Culture and history info

The Manaslu Region is home to ethnic groups like the Gurung and Tibetan-origin people, who follow Buddhist traditions. The area is dotted with ancient monasteries, stupas, and chortens, showcasing Tibetan Buddhist culture. The region has a long history of trade between Nepal and Tibet, and trekkers will encounter traditional lifestyles that have changed little over the centuries.
